WE88 App Malaysia: Download, Specs & the "We Wallet" Question (August 2026)

The WE88 app installs under a different name than the one you searched for. Open your app drawer after installing, and you'll find We Wallet, not WE88.

That's the first thing this review covers, because it's the thing people notice first and worry about. After that: the storage figures from our own install, what WESpin and WEPredict actually do, and the RM 8 app bonus terms in full, including two conditions that stop most people claiming it.

Why the WE88 App Is Called "We Wallet"

You download an APK from WE88's website, install it, and the icon on your home screen says We Wallet with a yellow card graphic. No WE88 logo, no WE88 name.

The first screen after installing WE88's Android app. It opens as We Wallet, version 1.0.3, and asks which country you're in before anything else loads.

This is the official app, and here's why the name differs.

WE88 operates across four Southeast Asian markets, and the country selector on the loading screen confirms it: Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, and Vietnam. One app serves all four, and each market runs under different brand names and different regulatory pressure. A neutral wrapper name lets a single build work everywhere without carrying a gambling brand in the app title.

There's a second reason, and it applies across this market. Named gambling apps are the ones that get flagged, removed, and blocked. Generic names survive longer, which is why BK8's iOS listing appears under a name unrelated to BK8 and why several operators rotate their download domains.

What this means for you in practice:

• You cannot verify the app by its name. Searching your phone for "WE88" after install returns nothing
• You cannot search for it anywhere and be confident. A file called "we88.apk" from a download site could be anything, since the real one doesn't even use that name
• The only safe route is starting from WE88's own website, every single time

WE88 App Specs: What We Measured

Every figure came from our own install on a Galaxy S24. Nothing is taken from WE88's download page.

Android's storage page for the WE88 app on our Galaxy S24: 122 MB for the app, 14.13 MB of user data, 3.91 MB of cache, 140 MB total. The name and version confirm We Wallet 1.0.3.

Two things stand out in those numbers.

Version 1.0.3 on a 122 MB app is unusual. Most betting apps we've installed carry version numbers in the hundreds, because they've been iterating for years. A 1.0.x build means this is a recent rewrite rather than a long-running app. That explains the neutral name, and it means the app is likely to change more than a mature one would.

User data at 14.13 MB is high relative to cache at 3.91 MB, which is the reverse of what we saw with other apps. Practically, it means the app stores more locally between sessions rather than refetching, which helps if your connection is unreliable.

How WE88 compares to the apps we've measured:

WE88 is the lightest of the three we've measured to completion. On a phone already tight for space, 140 MB against 170 MB is a real difference.

Two figures we don't have yet: the APK file size and the permission count. We publish only what we've measured, so those cells stay empty until we've recorded them properly. Every other app page on this site follows the same rule.

WE88 App Permissions: All Eight, and Why the Last One Matters

Eight permissions is the shortest list we've recorded on any betting app in Malaysia, and it's less than a quarter of what the Megapari app asks for. Here's the full set.

What's absent is as useful as what's there. No microphone. No contacts. No location. The Megapari app requests all three, and WE88 asks for none of them.

The Permission That Deserves a Second Look

REQUEST_INSTALL_PACKAGES lets the app install new versions of itself. That's the one worth understanding rather than waving through.

Why it exists: WE88's app can't update through Google Play, because Play doesn't carry real-money gambling apps for Malaysia. Without a self-updater, you'd have to notice a new build, visit the site, download a fresh APK, and install it manually every time. This permission removes that.

What it means in practice: the app can fetch and install code that never passed through Google's review process. That isn't dishonest, and it isn't unique to WE88. The 12Play app and the 1xBet app carry the same permission for exactly the same reason.

What it means for you: the update chain is only as trustworthy as the original install. If you downloaded the real app from WE88's site, its updates come from WE88. If you installed a repackaged copy from a download site, that copy can now update itself into anything.

There is no native WE88 app for iOS. WE88 has described one as coming, but as of our testing, it doesn't exist in the Malaysian App Store, or anywhere else we could find.

The reason is structural rather than a delay. Apple only accepts real-money gambling apps from operators licensed in the country the App Store account belongs to. Malaysia issues no online gambling licenses, so there's no route for an operator to list one here. The same wall keeps 1xBet's app out and pushed BK8's onto a decoy listing.

The PWA is the working alternative, and for WE88 specifically it costs you less than it would elsewhere, since the native app is a recent 1.0.x build rather than a heavily developed one.

The Handicap Rules, Explained Simply

This is the part that confuses people, and it's not complicated once it's laid out.

Whole and half lines (0.5, 1.0, 1.5, 2.0, 2.5) have one outcome: you win all 200 points or lose all 200.

Quarter lines (0.25, 0.75, 1.25, 1.75) can split. If the final score margin lands exactly on the quarter, you win or lose half your points, so 100 rather than 200.

Results use full regular time, 90 minutes plus injury time. Extra time doesn't count. A draw means your booster isn't refunded.
