Cookie Policy
This page explains what cookies MalaysiaBettingSites.com uses, why, and how you can control them.
We've kept our setup deliberately small. We don't run advertising networks, we don't use social media plugins, and we don't build advertising profiles of our visitors. What we do use is explained in full below, including the specific cookie names and how long each one lasts.
If anything here is unclear, contact us and we'll answer.
What Cookies Are
A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to store on your device. When you return, the browser sends it back, which is how a site can recognize a returning visitor or remember a setting.
A few related technologies do similar jobs, and where we refer to "cookies" on this page, we mean all of them:
- Cookies — small text files stored by your browser
- Local storage — a browser storage area that works like a cookie but isn't sent with every request
- Pixels and tracking parameters — tiny images or URL tags used to record that something happened, such as a click
Cookies are also split by who sets them and how long they last:
| Type | What It Means |
|---|---|
| First-party | Set by the site you're on — in this case, malaysiabettingsites.com |
| Third-party | Set by another company whose service the site uses, such as our hosting provider |
| Session | Deleted automatically when you close your browser |
| Persistent | Stays on your device until it expires or you delete it |
How We Use Cookies
We use cookies for two purposes, and no others:
1. To keep the site running and secure. Our host uses cookies to distinguish real visitors from bots and to protect against attacks. These are strictly necessary — without them the site can't reliably serve pages.
2. To attribute referrals to betting operators. When you click through to an operator, a tracking parameter records that the visit came from us. This is how the site is funded, and it's explained fully in our Disclosure.
Cookies We Use
Strictly necessary
These are required for the site to work securely. They're set by Cloudflare, which hosts and protects the site, and they can't be switched off without breaking it.
| Cookie | Set By | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
__cf_bm | Cloudflare | Distinguishes human visitors from automated traffic | 30 minutes |
cf_clearance | Cloudflare | Records that you've passed a security challenge, so you aren't asked again | Up to 1 year |
_cfuvid | Cloudflare | Applies rate limiting per visitor | Session |
__cfruid | Cloudflare | Routes your requests correctly across Cloudflare's network | Session |
These cookies contain no personal information and are not used to identify you as an individual or to build any kind of profile.
Affiliate referral tracking
When you click a link to a betting operator, a tracking parameter in the URL tells that operator the visit came from us. This is how we earn a commission, and it costs you nothing — our links never change the bonus, odds, or terms you receive.
What this does and doesn't involve:
- The parameter records the referral. That's the whole function.
- We do not receive your name, email, account details, balance, deposits, or betting activity. We're told a referral converted, not who you are or what you did.
- Any cookie the operator sets afterward belongs to them and is governed by their cookie and privacy policies, not ours. Once you leave our site, we have no visibility or control.
Cookies We Don't Use
Worth stating explicitly, because plenty of sites in this industry do use them:
- No advertising or retargeting cookies. We don't serve display ads and we don't follow you around the internet with them.
- No social media plugins. No embedded Facebook, X, TikTok, or Instagram widgets, and therefore none of the cookies they set.
- No cross-site behavioral profiling. We don't build a picture of your interests to sell or share.
- No data broker or ad network integrations.
- No fingerprinting. We don't attempt to identify your device by its configuration in order to sidestep cookie controls.
- We never sell your data. Not to advertisers, not to operators, not to anyone.
Third Parties That Can Set Cookies
One, plus the operators you choose to visit:
| Service | What It Does | Their Policy |
|---|---|---|
| Cloudflare | Hosting, security, and performance | cloudflare.com/privacypolicy |
| Betting operators | Only after you click through to them — their cookies, their rules | See each operator's own policy |
Once you leave our site, you're under someone else's policy. We have no control over what an operator sets on your device, and their practices are typically far more extensive than ours. If that matters to you, read their cookie policy before you register.
Your Choices: How to Control Cookies
You have full control, and none of the options below will break the site for you — though blocking the strictly necessary cookies may mean you're challenged more often by our security layer.
Through your browser
Every major browser lets you view, block, and delete cookies:
- Chrome — Settings → Privacy and security → Third-party cookies
- Safari — Settings → Privacy → Manage Website Data (or Preferences → Privacy on Mac)
- Firefox — Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data
- Edge — Settings → Cookies and site permissions
- Samsung Internet — Settings → Sites and downloads → Manage cookies
You can usually block all cookies, block third-party cookies only, or clear everything already stored. Note that blocking cookies broadly will affect other sites you use, sometimes significantly.
Private browsing
Incognito or private windows discard cookies when you close them. They don't make you anonymous — your network and the sites you visit can still see your activity — but they do stop cookies persisting between sessions.
Blocking gambling content entirely
Separate from cookies, but relevant to some readers: if you want to block gambling sites and apps at device level, Gamban and BetBlocker both do this, and BetBlocker is free. More support resources are on our Responsible Gambling page.
Consent and Legal Basis
If you're in Malaysia
Malaysia's Personal Data Protection Act 2010, as amended by the Personal Data Protection (Amendment) Act 2024, governs the processing of personal data here. It's overseen by the Personal Data Protection Department (Jabatan Perlindungan Data Peribadi, JPDP) under the Ministry of Digital.
Malaysian law does not impose a specific cookie-consent banner requirement equivalent to the EU's ePrivacy rules. Our position is that the cookies described above are required to deliver the site you requested and to keep it secure.
We've chosen to publish this page in full detail anyway, because we think you're entitled to know what's happening on your device regardless of what the minimum requirement is.
If you're outside Malaysia
We get visitors from outside Malaysia. If you're in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, non-essential cookies require your prior consent under the GDPR and the ePrivacy Directive, and consent has to be freely given, specific, and unambiguous — continuing to browse doesn't count.
The Cloudflare cookies listed above fall within the strictly-necessary exemption, since the site cannot be delivered securely without them.
Your rights over your data
Under the PDPA, you have the right to ask what personal data we hold about you, to have inaccurate data corrected, and to withdraw consent to processing. The 2024 amendments also introduced data portability rights and mandatory breach notification.
In practice, we hold very little — we don't operate accounts, and we don't collect names or email addresses through the site except via our contact form. But if you want to make a request, contact us and we'll respond.
If you're in the EEA or UK, you have the equivalent rights under the GDPR, including erasure and objection.
Changes to This Cookie Policy
We review this page at least annually and update it whenever our setup changes — a new service, a change to how affiliate tracking works, or any addition to the cookies described above.
The date at the top reflects the last substantive update. Material changes will be flagged on the page rather than made quietly.
