We deposited using cryptocurrency ourselves, counted the coins in six cashiers, and read the bonus terms on every site we cover. This page explains where crypto betting works in Malaysia, which site is the exception on bonuses, and how to move crypto without losing it.

The honest answer has two parts, and most pages only give you the comfortable one.

Cryptocurrency itself sits in a regulated space. Digital assets that qualify as securities fall under the Securities Commission Malaysia, and buying, holding, and trading through a registered exchange is lawful. What cryptocurrency is not is legal tender: Bank Negara Malaysia does not recognize it as money, so no shop, site, or person in Malaysia is obliged to accept it as payment.

Using crypto at an offshore betting site is a different question. Online betting itself sits in a legal gray area in Malaysia, and paying with crypto doesn't change that. The operators covered on this page hold offshore licenses, not Malaysian ones, because Malaysia doesn't issue any for online gambling.

So, the accurate summary is: trading crypto through a registered exchange is regulated and lawful; crypto is not legal tender; and betting with it carries the same gray-area status as betting with ringgit. Anyone telling you crypto betting is "fully legal and regulated" in Malaysia is describing a country that doesn't exist yet.

Crypto Betting Sites in Malaysia: What We Counted

Most pages tell you a site "accepts crypto." We opened the cashiers and counted.

Three things this table tells you that the marketing doesn't:

The number of cryptocurrencies accepted for deposits and withdrawals is different. MelBet lists 44 coins for deposits and 43 for withdrawals. 22Bet drops from 27 to 18. Before you deposit an unusual cryptocurrency, check that it also appears on the withdrawal screen, or your winnings come back through a different method entirely.

License status matters more here than anywhere else on our site. A crypto payment can't be reversed, and no bank sits between you and the operator. If a withdrawal is refused, the license is the only complaints process you have. That's why we show it in the table rather than in a footnote.

The bonus column is the one to read twice. More on that next, because it's the single most misunderstood part of crypto betting in Malaysia.

The Coin Counts Are Smaller Than They Look

Both 1xBet and 888starz list 40 cryptocurrency options on their withdrawal screens, and we counted them individually. What the number hides is that many are the same asset on different networks.

1xBet cryptocurrency withdrawal options showing 40 coins including Tether across seven networks The 1xBet withdrawal screen we counted: 40 options in total, with Tether appearing seven separate times across Tron, TON, BSC, Ethereum, Solana, Optimism and Arbitrum One.

Tether alone accounts for seven of the 40 entries at both sites: Tron, TON, BSC, Ethereum, Solana, Optimism and Arbitrum One. USD Coin adds another six. Ethereum appears five times across its own network plus Base, Optimism, Arbitrum One and as Ethereum Classic.

888starz cryptocurrency withdrawal options showing the same 40 coins in a different order 888starz offers an identical set of 40 withdrawal options, which isn't surprising since both operators run on related platforms.

Strip out the network duplicates and you're looking at roughly 25 distinct assets, which is still a wide selection but a long way from 48. The distinct coins at both sites: Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash, Ethereum, Ethereum Classic, Litecoin, Dogecoin, Tether, USD Coin, XRP, Tron, Monero, Dash, Solana, Cardano, Polkadot, Algorand, Cosmos Atom, Stellar, DigiByte, Verge, ZCash, QTUM, Chainlink, Shiba Inu, Binance Coin and GRAM.

Why this matters more than it sounds. Every one of those Tether entries is a separate deposit address on a separate network. Choosing "Tether" isn't enough; you have to choose which Tether, and sending on the wrong one is the mistake that costs people their deposit. The next section covers what that actually costs and how to avoid it.

One more thing worth noting: both sites list Monero, which most operators dropped years ago over compliance concerns. If privacy coins matter to you, that narrows your options fast.

Crypto Betting Bonuses: The Rule Almost Nobody States Plainly

At most Malaysian-facing betting sites, depositing in cryptocurrency disables all standard bonuses. Not reduces. Disables.

We read the terms at each site, and the wording barely varies: 1xBet, MelBet, 888starz and 22Bet all exclude crypto deposits from their welcome offers, reload bonuses, birthday bonuses and promo code offers, without exception. Deposit with Bitcoin at any of them and the promo code you entered at registration does nothing.

The two exceptions are worth knowing by name.

Megapari: The Only Welcome Package That Takes Crypto

Megapari's casino welcome package, up to RM 7,160 plus 150 free spins, states directly in its terms that it's available for cryptocurrency accounts. We tested the sports side too: we activated the welcome bonus with a Litecoin deposit, and it credited normally.

That combination doesn't exist anywhere else in this market. If claiming a welcome bonus with crypto is the point, Megapari is the answer, and the Megapari promo code MYRMAX raises the sports maximum on top.

One exception within the exception: Megapari's free bet offer is disabled for crypto accounts, so only the sports and casino packages work, not everything.

Dafabet: Separate Bonuses Built for Crypto

Dafabet takes the other approach. Instead of letting ringgit bonuses work with cryptocurrency, it runs crypto-only offers: 50% up to 10 mBTC for Bitcoin accounts, and the DSFDB50USDT code for 50% up to USDT 250 at 15x turnover.

Dafabet Bitcoin first deposit bonus offering 50% up to 10 mBTC Dafabet's Bitcoin first deposit bonus. You choose your account currency at registration, and crypto offers apply only to accounts opened in that currency.

The catch: you pick your account currency at registration. An mBTC bonus needs an mBTC account, and you can't claim it from a ringgit one.

1xBet: Crypto-Only Promotions on the Side

1xBet excludes crypto from its standard bonuses but runs a separate set of promotions visible only to crypto accounts, including a first-deposit offer and recurring weekly deals.

1xBet crypto account bonuses including First Deposit Bonus, X2 Wednesday and Lucky Friday The crypto-only promotions we found on a 1xBet crypto account: a first deposit bonus, X2 Wednesday and Lucky Friday.

The practical takeaway: decide whether the bonus or the payment method matters more to you before registering, because at most sites you can't have both. Turnover requirements differ sharply between offers, too, and how turnover is calculated affects how much any bonus costs to clear.

Crypto Sports Betting in Malaysia

Once the money is in, crypto betting is just betting. Your cryptocurrency converts to your account currency or sits as a crypto balance, depending on the site, and the sportsbook works the same way either way.

Where crypto changes the experience are the edges:

Deposits clear in minutes at 3 AM. Bank transfers wait for business hours, and even instant e-wallets depend on the operator's processing. A USDT transfer on a fast network confirms in minutes regardless of the day.

Withdrawals are where the difference is biggest. Our banking research found crypto consistently among the fastest payout methods, because there's no bank in the chain to add a settlement day. What it costs you is the conversion step at each end if you live in ringgit.

Live betting benefits most. Topping up mid-match with a bank transfer means missing the window. A crypto balance is available the moment you need it, which is also exactly why a deposit limit matters more with cryptocurrencies than with any other method.

Crypto Casino Malaysia: Slots & Live Casino With Cryptocurrency

The casino side works the same way: deposit in crypto, play in your account currency at most sites. A few things are specific to casino play.

Megapari's casino package is the standout for the reason covered above. A crypto-funded account can claim the full welcome package, with 35x wagering and a 30-day window, which is twice the time 1xBet and 888starz give on their casino offers.

Slots and game shows usually clear bonuses fastest. Where a crypto-eligible bonus exists, check the game contribution table before playing. At Dafabet, slots count 100% toward wagering while baccarat counts 5%, which turns the same requirement into twenty times more betting.

Live casino tables are often priced in EUR or USD, even for Malaysian accounts. We found this at 888starz, where blackjack tables ran from 3 to 5,000 EUR on a ringgit account. With a crypto balance, you're now converting twice in your head. It doesn't change the math, but it makes it easier to lose track of what a bet costs.

How To Deposit With Cryptocurrency at a Betting Site

The process is the same at every site we've tested. Where people lose money is step 3.

Network Fees: The Cost Nobody Puts in the Comparison

The same cryptocurrency can cost wildly different amounts to move, because the fee belongs to the network, not the crypto itself.

Tether is the clearest example. At MelBet alone, we counted USDT offered across eight different networks, including Tron, Ethereum, BNB Smart Chain and Polygon. The token is identical. The transfer fee is not: an Ethereum transfer can cost several dollars when the network is busy, while the same amount on Tron typically moves for under one.

Three rules that cover most situations:

  • For stablecoin deposits, Tron (TRC-20) is usually the cheapest widely supported network for USDT, which is why most betting cashiers list it first
  • Bitcoin's own network is slow and comparatively expensive for small transfers. It's fine for larger, less frequent movements
  • The receiving site decides which networks it accepts. Your wallet offering a cheaper network doesn't help if the cashier doesn't list it

Minimums exist too, and they're not always obvious. At J8DE, the crypto floor is 10 USDT for deposits and 15 USDT for withdrawals. Sites set these per cryptocurrency, and a withdrawal below the minimum won't be processed, so check before leaving a small balance stranded.

Does Crypto Betting Avoid KYC? Mostly No

This claim sells a lot of crypto betting pages, so let's be precise about what our own testing found.

Every operator we've reviewed asks for identity documents before a first withdrawal, regardless of how you deposited. Crypto in does not mean anonymous out. MelBet, 1xBet, 888starz, 22Bet, Megapari and Dafabet all reserve the right to request ID, and in practice the first payout is where it happens.

What crypto genuinely changes is the deposit side: no bank statement shows a transfer to a betting site, and no card issuer sits in the middle. For many players, that privacy at the funding step is the real draw, and it's fair to want it. Just don't confuse it with skipping verification, because the document request arrives when the money flows the other way.

Our advice is the same as on every payment method: complete KYC early, when nothing is waiting on it, rather than at withdrawal time when a payout is.

Crypto Wallets for Betting: Hot, Cold, and the Phrase That Rules Both

You don't need deep technical knowledge to bet with crypto, but you do need to not lose your crypto between the exchange and the betting site.

Hot wallets are apps connected to the internet: an exchange account, a phone app, a browser extension. They're what you'll actually use for betting, because deposits and withdrawals need something online. The trade-off is that anything online can be phished or hacked, so a hot wallet should hold what you're prepared to move, not your savings.

Cold wallets are hardware devices, like those from Trezor or Ledger, that keep your keys offline. They're for storage rather than transactions, and they make sense if you hold more crypto than you bet with.

Both stand or fall on the recovery phrase. When you set up a wallet, it generates a series of words. That phrase is the wallet. Lose the device, and the phrase restores everything on a new one. Lose the phrase and the funds are gone permanently, with no company able to recover them, because nobody else ever had it. Write it down physically, store it somewhere safe, and never type it into a website: no legitimate service asks for it.

On exchanges as storage: keeping cryptocurrency on a registered exchange is convenient and fine for active balances, but it means the exchange holds the keys, not you. Exchanges have failed before, including large ones. The standard practice is simple: exchange for buying and selling, your own wallet for holding.

Crypto Betting Pros & Cons in Malaysia

  • Deposits clear in minutes at any hour, with no bank in the chain
  • Withdrawals are consistently among the fastest of any method we've tested
  • No betting transactions appear on your bank or card statements
  • Works when local payment methods are down or unavailable
  • Megapari accepts crypto for its full welcome package, and Dafabet runs crypto-only bonuses
  • Stablecoins like USDT remove the price swings that make betting in Bitcoin unpredictable
  • Almost every standard bonus in this market is disabled for crypto deposits
  • A transfer to the wrong network is usually unrecoverable
  • Cryptocurrency prices move, so a Bitcoin balance can shrink between deposit and withdrawal
  • KYC still applies at withdrawal, despite what most crypto betting pages claim
  • Network fees vary sharply and aren't always shown clearly at the cashier
  • The speed that makes crypto convenient also removes every natural pause between deciding to bet and betting

18+ | Gambling involves real financial risk. Play responsibly.

Instant deposits mean a session can be topped up in seconds, at any hour, with no bank between you and the decision. That convenience is exactly why a deposit limit matters more with crypto than with any other method. Set one before you fund an account.

Never gamble with money you can't afford to lose, and never gamble to solve a financial problem.

Which Coins Work Best for Betting in Malaysia

Bitcoin (BTC) is accepted everywhere crypto is accepted (almost), and Dafabet's mBTC bonus is built around it. Its weaknesses for betting are practical: transfers are slower and pricier than alternatives, and its price moves enough that a week's winnings can shrink in your balance before you withdraw.

Tether (USDT) is what most crypto bettors in Malaysia actually use, and for good reason: it's pegged to the US dollar, so the value you deposit is the value you withdraw. The only decision it leaves you is the network, which is where the fee section above earns its place.

Ethereum (ETH) is universally supported and fine for betting, though its own network fees make small, frequent transfers expensive. If you're moving ETH regularly, the amounts should justify it.

Litecoin (LTC) is cheap and quick to transfer, and it's the crypto we used to confirm Megapari's bonus works with crypto. Fewer sites list it than the big three, so check the cashier first.

Beyond those four, the counts in our table run to 48 cryptocurrencies at 1xBet and 888starz, covering everything from XRP to meme coins. The practical rule doesn't change: whatever you deposit, confirm it's on the withdrawal list too.

Crypto Betting vs E-Wallets & Bank Transfer

Crypto is one of several methods, and it isn't the right one for everyone.

Choose crypto if payout speed matters most, you want betting off your bank statements, you already hold cryptocurrency, or you specifically want Megapari's crypto-eligible package or Dafabet's crypto offers.

Choose an e-wallet or bank transfer if bonuses matter most, since every standard offer in this market works with local methods, or if converting ringgit to crypto and back adds a step you don't want. Touch 'n Go, DuitNow and GrabPay cover deposits at nearly every site we review, and minimums, payout times and withdrawal availability vary enough between Malaysian banking methods that the comparison is worth five minutes before you commit to one.

The middle path plenty of players land on: local methods for deposits where the bonus lives, crypto for withdrawals where the speed lives. Nothing stops you from using both, though some sites require withdrawing using the same method you deposited with until it's exhausted.

Most crypto-friendly sites in Malaysia accept local e-wallets alongside cryptocurrency, so switching between them rarely requires switching sites. Touch 'n Go has the widest acceptance of any single method we've counted, DuitNow works at nearly every operator through FPX, and GrabPay appears on deposit screens far more often than withdrawal ones.
