AW8 App Review: The main app is called AceWin8 (September 2026)
We installed the AW8 app on Android, opened it on iOS, dug through the storage settings, and checked every number ourselves on three mobile phones. What we found is unusual enough to shape the whole review: the AW8 app takes up 289 kB and requests zero permissions, because it is not a normal native app at all.
It installed on every Android version we tried, going back to Android 6.0, which is older than most betting apps support. But you should know what you are actually installing. This is closer to a progressive web app wrapped in an installer than to the larger mobile betting apps from Megapari or 12Play. That brings a fair number of advantages and some limits, and we cover both below, along with the sportsbook, the casino lobby, the cashier, the app-only bonus, and how to remove it again.
The App Download block on AceWin8's website, offering Android and iOS buttons alongside scannable QR codes.
Short Version Of The AW8 App
The brand uses two names, which can confuse people, so let's clear it up first. AW8 and AceWin8 are the same operator. AceWin8 is the full company name, shown in the site footer and in the copyright line, while AW8 is the short form used in the logo, the app icon, and the Google Play listing.
The download page on the website is headed "AceWin8 APP." The app that lands on your phone is called AW8. Throughout this page, we call it the AW8 app, because that is what the icon says and what people search for. If you want the full picture of the operator behind it, our AW8 Malaysia review covers licensing, banking, bonuses, and support for the platform as a whole.
The AW8 app menu. The Download entry at the bottom starts the app installation if you are browsing on mobile.
AW8 App Download in Malaysia: Download & Install on Google Play
Here is where AW8 breaks from every other betting app we have tested in Malaysia. There is no APK file to download. Tapping the Android button or scanning the QR code on the official site takes you to the AW8 Google Play listing, where you install it.
That matters because Google Play's developer policy on real-money gambling means Malaysian users cannot install licensed betting apps through the store the way players in some other countries can. Every other operator we cover uses workarounds like a direct APK download, which triggers Chrome's "file might be harmful" warning and requires you to allow installs from unknown sources. AW8 skips all of that. The Play listing we saw showed a Rapid Install button promising a download within 10 seconds, and it was accurate.
What lands on your phone afterward explains why. The package name is org.chromium.webapk.a44274c21d1f77d0c_v2 and the storage page credits the install to Chrome. That is a Chrome WebAPK, a thin installer wrapped around the mobile website. The upside is speed, size, and automatic updates. The downside is that you don't get native app performance, and we say so plainly further down.
Only ever start from the official AW8 site. Because the install path goes through Play rather than a file, the usual advice about checking file sizes does not apply here, and the only thing protecting you is where you began.
The Play listing we installed from: 4.8 stars from 10 reviews, 19K+ downloads, verified by Play Protect, and a Rapid Install button.
One thing we noticed and will not pretend we can explain: the listing holds an Editors' Choice badge alongside only 10 reviews. We are not drawing a conclusion, but it is worth noting before you treat the star rating as meaningful.
How to Download & Install the AW8 App in September 2026
Registration is short. Username, password, an optional referral ID, and a Telegram signup option are all that stand between you and an account.
The member benefits panel on that screen advertises a welcome bonus up to RM 1,200. The actual promotion pages list a 150% offer capping at RM 1,500 on slots and a 208% offer totaling RM 1,100 across three deposits. Neither is RM 1,200, so treat the panel as marketing rather than terms, and read the promotion page before you deposit.
App Permissions Requested
This is the section where we expected a long list and found the opposite.
Android reports that the AW8 app has no permissions granted, and no permissions to grant. The app info page shows "No permissions granted" under Permissions, "No data used" under Mobile data usage, and 289 kB under Storage and cache. The app has no camera, microphone, location, contacts, storage access, or self-updater permission.
The Android app info page for AW8 after our first session: 289 kB of storage, no permissions granted, and no mobile data recorded against the app.
Here is why, and it is not because AW8 is being unusually careful with your privacy. A WebAPK has no permissions of its own because it is a shortcut that runs inside Chrome's engine. When the cashier needs your camera to scan a DuitNow QR code, the request goes to Chrome's permission model rather than to a separate app permission. The Web App Manifest specification defines this behavior and tells Android to treat the site as an installable app.
The bottom of the same settings page. Version 1, package org.chromium.webapk.a44274c21d1f77d0c_v2, installed from Chrome via Google Play Store. This is what confirms it is a WebAPK rather than a native build.
What this means in practice, honestly stated:
- Nothing sits on your phone with standing access to your hardware. Compared with the Megapari app's 26 permissions, including camera and microphone, that is a real difference.
- It does not mean AW8 collects nothing. Web tracking works through cookies and identifiers rather than Android permissions, and AW8's iOS listing spells that out.
- You cannot revoke anything selectively. With a native app, you can deny the microphone and keep the camera. Here, there is nothing to toggle.
What AW8 Says It Collects
Apple requires developers to declare their data practices, and AW8's App Store privacy card is more informative than anything on the Android side.
AW8's declared data practices on the App Store: identifiers and usage data used for cross-company tracking, the same two linked to your identity, plus contact information and diagnostics collected without being linked.
Data used to track you across other companies' apps and websites: identifiers and usage data. Data linked to your identity: identifiers and usage data. Data collected but not linked to you: contact information, identifiers, diagnostics, and other data.
Cross-company tracking identifiers are common for a gambling operator running affiliate attribution, and they are the same practice behind the Affiliate ID field on the registration screen. Malaysian users have rights over personal data under the Personal Data Protection Act, administered by the Department of Personal Data Protection, and it is worth knowing they exist before you agree to terms at signup.
Malaysian Deposit & Withdrawal Methods in The App
The in-app cashier is the same as the one on the website, and it is one of the better options in this market for local players. Deposits are split across four tabs.
| Deposit method | Options | Minimum | Maximum |
|---|---|---|---|
| QR Pay | DuitNow QR, Touch 'n Go QR, Boost QR, GrabPay, Maybank QRPay, RHB QR | RM 30 | RM 30,000 |
| Bank Transfer | Maybank, via Online Banking, Cash Deposit Machine or ATM | RM 20 | RM 30,000 |
| Quick Pay | 12 banks including Public Bank, CIMB, Maybank, RHB, Hong Leong, BSN, OCBC, UOB and Bank Rakyat | RM 30 | RM 30,000 |
| Crypto | USDT-TRC20 via the SPC channel | USDT 10 | Not stated |
QR Pay in the AW8 cashier. WePay, OnePay, NPAY, FPay and TruePay act as the gateways behind the six QR options.
QR Pay is the one to use on a phone because the whole point of a mobile cashier is not typing bank details. DuitNow QR and Touch 'n Go QR both run on rails operated by PayNet, Malaysia's national payments network, and the transfer is completed in your banking app rather than inside AW8.
Quick Pay covers 12 Malaysian banks. Green dots mark which gateways are live at the time you open the page.
Bank transfer has the lowest minimum at RM 20 and is the only method that accepts a cash deposit machine or ATM transfer.
Crypto is more limited than at the top crypto betting sites. USDT on TRC20 only, minimum 10 USDT, with the exchange rate displayed on the deposit screen and a receipt upload required afterward. That last step is manual, which makes crypto slower here than at operators that credit automatically.
The crypto tab accepts USDT on TRC20 only, with the live rate shown and a receipt upload required after sending.
Withdrawals use the same banks as deposits, and the app adds e-wallet payouts that the deposit side does not have as separate names.
| Withdrawal method | Options | Minimum | Maximum |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bank Transfer | Every bank on the Add Bank Account list, 40+ including all major Malaysian banks | RM 50 | RM 30,000 |
| E-Wallet | Touch 'n Go, BigPay, Boost | RM 50 | RM 30,000 |
| Crypto | USDT | Not stated | Not stated |
Direct e-wallet withdrawals to Touch 'n Go, BigPay or Boost. Several operators in this market process payouts through an intermediary wallet instead.
Direct payouts to a Malaysian bank and to Touch 'n Go are a real advantage here. Megapari, for comparison, cannot pay directly to Maybank or Touch 'n Go and processes everything through a gateway or crypto. The bank list in the app runs past 40 entries, covering Islamic banks, foreign banks, and smaller names like Ryt Bank and GX Bank alongside the usual ones.
The first half of AW8's bank list. Adding your bank account in advance saves time at withdrawal.
The withdrawal minimum is RM 50, which is higher than the RM 20 deposit minimum. Plan around that rather than around the deposit figure.
AW8 App Download for iOS Devices
The AW8 app exists in the App Store. You cannot install it from Malaysia.
We found the listing: AW8, developed by ROIBest, 4.8 stars from 10 ratings, with an age rating shown as Unlimited. The Get button is visible. Tapping it on a Malaysian connection doesn't install anything; instead, you get the add-to-home-screen instructions.
The AW8 listing is visible in the App Store, published by ROIBest. From a Malaysian connection, the Get button does not complete the installation.
The reason is structural, not a bug, and AW8 can't fix it. Apple's App Store Review Guidelines only permit real-money gaming apps from developers licensed in the country where the App Store account is based, and Malaysia issues no online gambling licenses. The same wall keeps the Megapari, 1xBet, and WE88 apps out of the Malaysian store.
One note on AW8's own iOS instructions. The website tells iPhone users to download a configuration profile, then trust it under Settings > General > Profiles > Device Management. That describes an enterprise distribution method, which isn't what happens on a Malaysian connection, where you get PWA instructions instead. Don't hunt for a profile that isn't there.
And do not reach for a VPN. AW8's terms, like every operator's in this market, allow account review when your location data doesn't match your registration. A frozen balance at withdrawal costs far more than an install step saves.
Only PWA Available in Malaysia
The add-to-home-screen option is what actually works on iPhone, and for AW8 specifically, you lose almost nothing by using it. The Android app is itself a wrapped web app, so the iOS PWA delivers a near-identical experience.
The instructions AW8 serves to iPhone users in Malaysia. In four taps, the icon appears on your home screen.
- Open AW8 in Safari and tap the ··· button at the bottom of the screen
- Tap Share
- Tap View More to expand the full list of options
- Tap Add to Home Screen and confirm
You get an app-style icon, the full lobby, the cashier, and all the bonuses. What you give up is push notifications and Face ID login. What you keep is protection against landing on a cloned site, since the shortcut always points to the real address.
Sports & Esports Betting in The App
AW8 keeps sports and esports in two separate lobbies, each with its own set of third-party platforms rather than one in-house sportsbook. That is the standard Malaysian aggregator model, and it means the same match can offer different odds, depending on which platform you open.
The app handles this better than the website does. Each platform loads in a full-screen view built for a phone, with its own mobile layout rather than a scaled-down desktop page. Odds format, bet slip behavior, and market filters are all controlled inside the platform you pick, so you can set Malay odds in one and keep decimal in another.
Sportsbook
Five sportsbook platforms sit in the Sports lobby. Tap one to open its own interface, with your RM balance across the platforms.
Five sportsbook platforms in the AW8 app. CMD368 offers a Hot tag, and BTi is marked New.
- CMD368 is the default pick and has the Hot tag. It offers strong Asian Handicap coverage and the widest football betting market selection of the five.
- BTi is the newest addition and the cleanest mobile layout, with live event counts displayed per sport.
- SBOBET is the best-known name here and the one most Malaysian bettors will already have used, with solid Asian market pricing.
- SABA Sports has live streaming on many fixtures and covers sports the others thin out on.
- M9BET is the smallest of the five, worth opening mainly to compare odds.
BTi running inside the app on 15 September 2026, with 129 live events, 220 soccer markets and Asian Handicap odds in the default view.
Esports
Esports gets its own lobby rather than being buried inside a sportsbook, which is more than most Malaysian operators offer. Two dedicated esports platforms are available, and the split is worth understanding because they cover different ground.
The esports lobby is thinner than the sports one, and we will not pretend otherwise. If esports betting is your main market, operators like Megapari and 1xBet offer many more games and betting markets. AW8 offers solid coverage of the games that matter most in Malaysia, delivered in a mobile layout that works.
Two esports platforms in the app. TFGaming offers deeper Mobile Legends and Dota 2 coverage than the other.
- TFGaming is the stronger of the two, with the broadest coverage of Mobile Legends, Dota 2, CS2, and League of Legends, plus map and round markets rather than match winner only
- Esports Bull covers the same games with a simpler market set, useful mainly for comparing odds against TFGaming on the same fixture
App Casino Lobby, Games & Slots
The casino is where AW8 puts its weight, and the main menu shows it: Casino, Slots, Poker, Fishing, Lottery, 3D Games, Cockfight, and Fast Games each get their own section. That is a wider product spread than most sportsbook-led operators offer.
Every section works the same way. You pick a provider first, then browse that provider's games, rather than searching one combined library. It takes a little learning, but once you know which providers you like, it is faster than scrolling a single lobby of thousands of games.
More Optimized Live Casino in The App
Live casino is the part of any betting site in Malaysia that suffers most on a phone browser because you are streaming video inside a page built for a desktop. In the app, the tables open full-screen with the betting interface laid out for a vertical phone, and the stream is sized for the screen rather than being scaled down from a desktop window.
That also means less data used, which matters if you play live casino on mobile data rather than Wi-Fi. A correctly sized stream is a smaller stream.
Twenty live casino providers at AW8, combining the global names with the Asian studios Malaysian players look for.
Twenty providers is a strong count, and the mix is the important part. Evolution, Pragmatic Play and Playtech cover the international standard for roulette and blackjack, while Sexy Baccarat, Dream Gaming, SA Gaming, WM Casino, Allbet and Pretty Gaming cover the Asian baccarat style that most Malaysian live casino players actually want.
Play Slots on Your Mobile
The slot library is large, and the app presents it better than the website does. Games load in portrait mode with the reels filling the screen, and RTP percentages are printed directly on the slots rather than being buried in a help screen.
Pragmatic Play slots in the app with RTP shown on each slot, from 96.5% on Gates of Olympus 1000 to 96.96% on Pharaoh's Fortune Realm.
Displaying RTP on the slot is unusual and worth noticing. Most Malaysian casino lobbies do not, and being able to compare 96.5% against 96.84% before you open a game is more useful than any bonus banner on the page.
Forty-five slot providers at AW8. Mega888 and 918Kiss sit alongside Pragmatic Play, Hacksaw Gaming, Nolimit City and NetEnt.
Forty-five providers is the biggest slot lineup we have counted on a Malaysian-facing app. Worth knowing before you claim a bonus: Pragmatic Play, Mega888, 918Kiss and Pussy888 are excluded from the slots welcome bonus, and between them they account for a large share of the games people actually play.
More App Casino Games
Fishing Games
Fishing has 14 providers in its own section, led by Spadegaming, with Jili, Fa Chai, CQ9, JDB, and AceWin's own studio behind it. Games like Fishing God, Fishing War, and Alien Hunter are all here. The filter is the weak point: pick a provider, and you may find only a handful of games behind it, so you end up tapping through providers to see what exists.
The fishing lobby. Fourteen providers across the top, but only four games behind Spadegaming when we looked.
Fast Games & 3D Games
Fast Games covers crash-style & instant games, and 3D Games sits beside it as a separate entry. Both are quick-round products designed for exactly the short mobile sessions an app encourages. The selection is decent, the navigation is not, and there is no combined view that shows you everything at once.
Lottery and 4D
Lottery is a full section rather than an afterthought, which matters in Malaysia where 4D has a following that most international operators ignore. Check the bonus terms before you play, since lottery products are commonly excluded from turnover across this market.
Poker & Cockfight
Poker has its own menu entry and runs on third-party platforms rather than a dedicated room. Cockfight is a product you will only find on Southeast Asian sites, and AW8 offers it as a standard section.
App Features You Should Know About
We will be direct: this is not a feature-rich app. It is a progressive web app in an installer, so it does not carry biometric login, offline mode, or push notifications the way a native build does. What it does bring are four things worth having.
It Takes Up Almost No Space
289 kB. That is the entire storage footprint, and it is not a typo. For comparison, the lightest native betting app we have measured in Malaysia is the Uwin33 app at 110.2 MB installed, and the heaviest is the 12Play app at 170 MB.
On a phone that is already full, or a budget handset, or a second device you keep for betting, this is the single strongest argument for the AW8 app over any of its competitors. You can install it without deleting anything.
It Updates Itself, Silently
Every other betting app in Malaysia installs outside Google Play, so it has no automatic updates. You have to notice a new build, revisit the site, download a fresh file, and install it manually. If you miss it, you're stuck on an old version.
The AW8 app never has this problem. Because it loads the live site inside an app shell, you are always on the current version the moment AW8 ships it. Nothing to redownload, no version number to check against a download page.
Better Layout & Navigation Than the Mobile Site
The app strips out the browser chrome and gives you a fixed bottom navigation bar with Mission, Funds, Home, Account, and Promotion. Funds button is highly visible in the middle of the app, putting deposit, transfer, withdraw, and history one tap away from anywhere in the app rather than behind a menu.
The provider names are also sized for thumbs rather than being a scaled-down desktop grid, which makes the casino and sportsbook lobbies noticeably faster to move around.
Lower Data Usage on Live Content
Because the app requests the mobile layout directly rather than loading a desktop page and shrinking it, you download less on every screen. It is most noticeable on live casino and live sports, where a correctly sized stream is meaningfully smaller than a scaled one.
More AW8 Apps: Several mobile casino apps available
Beyond the main app, AW8's download page offers separate installers for individual casino and slot providers. These are standalone apps for those platforms, not AW8 apps, and your AW8 login works inside them.
Android Apps
The Android tab on AW8's download page offers five separate provider apps, three slots and two casino.
918Kiss
The best-known slot app in Malaysia and one of the few with a following of its own. Note that 918Kiss is excluded from AW8's slots welcome bonus.
Mega888
Another major Malaysian slot platform, with a Hot tag in its provider list. It's also excluded from the slots welcome bonus and several turnover calculations.
Joker
Joker Gaming's slot and arcade library in a standalone app, including slots not available in the main AW8 slot lobby.
Gameplay
Gameplay Interactive's live casino app, with its own table selection separate from what loads inside the AW8 app.
WM Casino
An Asian live casino platform focused on baccarat, and one of the more popular table providers with Malaysian players.
iOS Apps
The iOS tab is much shorter. Only Mega888 and WM Casino have iPhone builds offered here.
Mega888
The only slot provider with an iOS build on AW8's download page.
WM Casino
The only live casino provider offered for iPhone. Everything else in the Android list is Android only.
Two honest warnings on these. They are separate installs with their own permissions, so the zero-permission finding above does not apply to them. And provider apps like 918Kiss and Mega888 are heavily cloned in Malaysia, so installing from AW8's download page rather than a search result matters more here than it does for the main app.
Bonuses & Promotions
Every promotion on the AW8 website works in the app, and the app adds its own offer. The Promotion tab in the bottom navigation has filters for VIP, Special, Slots, Casino, and Sports.
The promotion page inside the app, filtered by category. Every website offer appears here, plus the app exclusive.
AW8 App Welcome Bonuses
New members pick one Malaysian welcome offer. You cannot combine them, and both require a minimum RM 50 transfer into your chosen product wallet.
150% Welcome Bonus
The bigger single-deposit offer, and the one most people will want.
| Product | Bonus | Max bonus | Turnover |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sports | 150% | RM 600 | x35 |
| Live Casino | 150% | RM 600 | x35 |
| Slots | 150% | RM 1,500 | x35 |
The x35 turnover is the number to weigh. Take the full RM 1,500 on slots, and you need RM 52,500 in qualifying bets before you can withdraw. Excluded providers are significant: Pragmatic Play, Mega888, 918Kiss, and Pussy888 on slots, and Allbet, Dream Gaming, Playtech, Evolution, and Asia Gaming on live casino. Sports betting is limited to a named league list covering major European competitions, the World Cup, Copa America, MLB, and NFL.
208% Welcome Bonus
Spread across your first three deposits, with a lower amount but slightly easier turnover on the first two.
| Deposit | Bonus | Max bonus | Turnover |
|---|---|---|---|
| First | 38% | RM 300 | x30 |
| Second | 80% | RM 300 | x30 |
| Third | 90% | RM 500 | x35 |
Total maximum bonus is RM 1,100 across all three. The same provider exclusions and the same league restrictions apply. Claimable once per member, during your first fund transfer into a product wallet.
More Promotions in The App
AW8 App Exclusive Bonus
The only offer you cannot get on the website, and the reason to install the app if bonuses drive your decision.
The app-exclusive banner. The RM 188 offer applies only at Ruby VIP level, not to a new account.
Read the banner carefully. It advertises a bonus of 188, but the terms tell a different story by tier.
| Member level | Minimum deposit | Extra bonus | Turnover |
|---|---|---|---|
| Normal member | RM 100 | RM 5 | x5 |
| Bronze VIP | RM 100 | RM 8 | x5 |
| Silver VIP | RM 1,000 | RM 18 | x5 |
| Gold VIP | RM 1,000 | RM 28 | x5 |
| Platinum VIP | RM 1,000 | RM 58 | x5 |
| Diamond VIP | RM 1,000 | RM 88 | x5 |
| Ruby VIP | RM 1,000 | RM 188 | x5 |
A new member depositing RM 100 through the app gets RM 5, not RM 188. Claiming it is manual: deposit via the app, screenshot your Account page and the deposit, and send both to live chat. Bonus credits are credited to your chosen provider wallet after verification and are valid for seven days.
Register & Get 200 Free Points to Spin
New members get 200 Lucky Spin Points on registration, which is one spin of the Lucky Wheel. To activate the spin, you need a minimum RM 20 deposit, down from the RM 800 this promotion originally required.
The Lucky Wheel in the app with one spin available. Nine segments, from small Angpow cash prizes up to physical prizes.
The prize tiers run from RM 2 to 5, RM 8 to 18, RM 18 to 38, RM 188, RM 500, RM 888, RM 1,288 to 1,688, an iPhone 17 Pro Max, and a MacBook Pro. To claim physical prizes, contact customer service. One condition is easy to miss: you must deposit at least RM 100 in total before you are eligible to withdraw anything you win on the wheel.
The nine prize tiers alongside the leveling system. Each level from LV2 to LV5 awards 200 more activity points, which is one more spin.
Extra spins come from deposits: RM 300 reaches LV2, RM 1,000 LV3, RM 3,000 LV4, and RM 10,000 LV5, each awarding another 200 points. That is a deposit ladder rather than a play reward, which is worth being clear-eyed about.
Fortunate Ang Pao
Random cash drops allocated by AW8's system to active members, with no minimum and no stated maximum cap. Winners are notified by customer service. The bonus also has a x5 turnover and can only be used on the provider wallet it lands in.
100% Cashback: First Game On Us
First-deposit members only. Place a minimum RM 100 bet on any soccer handicap or over/under market, and AW8 refunds 100% of the net loss on that single ticket up to RM 200 at x5 turnover. Applies only to C-Sports, M8-Sports, and Saba-Sports, only to the named league list, and you must send the bet ticket ID to live chat within 72 hours of settlement.
Crypto Deposit Bonus up to RM 888
Deposit a total of RM 1,000 or more in BTC, ETH, or USDT within seven days and claim 1% back, capped at RM 888, at x3 turnover. You also need valid bets worth at least twice your weekly deposit, and you must contact customer service to claim. One claim per week.
The crypto deposit bonus. Reaching the RM 888 cap would require an RM 88,800 weekly crypto deposit at 1%.
Worth doing the arithmetic: at 1%, an RM 1,000 deposit returns RM 10. The RM 888 number is the cap, not the typical payout.
Live Baccarat Lucky Streak up to RM 1,888
Win eight or more Live Baccarat hands in a row and claim a bonus scaled to your total valid bet across those rounds: RM 1,000 in bets pays RM 188; RM 5,000 pays RM 388; RM 20,000 pays RM 888; RM 50,000 pays RM 1,288; and RM 88,888 pays RM 1,888. Turnover is only x1, which is light. Banker and player bets only; side bets void the streak, and you must claim within 24 hours through live chat.
Compared to Other Mobile Apps
| App | Installed Size | Permissions | Platforms | Install Method | Standout |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| AW8 App | 289 kB | 0 | Android, iOS via PWA | Google Play, direct | By far the smallest install, zero permissions |
| Uwin33 App | 110.2 MB | 5 | Android only | APK, 22.22 MB | 6% uncapped sports cashback |
| WE88 App | 140 MB | 6 | Android only | APK, 48.2 MB | WESpin and WEPredict |
| Megapari App | 161 MB | 26 | Android, iOS via PWA | APK, 55.71 MB | Only welcome package that accepts crypto |
| 12Play App | 170 MB | 21 | Android, iOS via PWA | APK, 102.8 MB | Live betting speed |
| BK8 App | Not recorded | 16 (5 toggleable) | Android + iOS | APK, 29.7 MB | Smallest APK, most permission control |
| 1xBet App | Not recorded | 39 | Android, Windows, Linux | APK, 48.2 MB | Widest market coverage |
We only publish figures we have measured ourselves, which is why some cells read "not recorded." We fill them in as we retest each app.
Where AW8 leads is not close. 289 kB against 110 MB for the nearest competitor, zero permissions against five, and the only app in this set that installs through Google Play without a security warning or an unknown sources toggle.
Where it trails is also not close. Native apps carry biometric login, push notifications, and offline caching. AW8 does not, because there is no native app underneath. If those features are why you want an app, the Megapari or BK8 builds are the ones to look at. If you want the site on your home screen without giving up storage or permissions, AW8 is the best option in this market.

Security & Licensing
An installed app has one security advantage that has nothing to do with the app itself: it removes the moment when you might tap the wrong search result. Cloned betting sites are a persistent problem in Malaysia, and an icon on your home screen always points to the real address. For AW8, that protection is the same whether you install it on Android or add the PWA on iPhone.
The zero-permission finding is the second advantage. Nothing on your phone holds standing access to your camera, microphone, location, or contacts.
On licensing, we will tell you what we found rather than what we would like to have found. AW8's footer, in the app and on the website, displays a Gaming Curaçao logo alongside an 18+ mark. There is no license number shown; the logo is not clickable, and there is no verification link.
The AceWin8 footer. A Gaming Curaçao badge with no license number beside it and no link to a verification page.
We are not drawing a conclusion from a missing number, and plenty of operators display badges poorly while holding a valid license. But a license is the only complaints process available if a withdrawal is ever refused, so it is worth knowing where you stand. If this matters to you, ask live chat for the license number before you deposit, and check it against the regulator's register yourself. An operator that can produce a number in seconds is telling you something, and so is one that cannot.
The footer also states that customer support runs 24 hours and that it handles personal data confidentially. Support is available through live chat and a Telegram channel, both accessible from inside the app.
The same footer inside the app, with the payment method logos and the Gaming Curaçao badge also moved over from the website.
Pros & Cons
- 289 kB installed, hundreds of times lighter than any native betting app we have measured in Malaysia
- Zero permissions requested. No camera, microphone, location, or contacts access sits on your phone
- Installs from Google Play in seconds, with no APK file, no Chrome warning, and no unknown sources toggle
- Updates itself automatically, so you are never sitting on an old build
- Direct withdrawals to Malaysian banks and to Touch 'n Go, BigPay or Boost, which several rivals cannot offer
- Six QR Pay options, including DuitNow QR and Touch 'n Go QR, with an RM 20 bank transfer minimum
- 45 slot providers and 20 live casino providers, with RTP shown on the games
- Five sportsbook platforms and two esports platforms, so you can compare odds without leaving the app
- Not a native app. No biometric login, no push notifications, no offline mode
- The app-exclusive bonus pays RM 5 to a normal member despite a banner advertising 188
- x35 turnover on the 150% welcome bonus, with Pragmatic Play, Mega888, 918Kiss, and Pussy888 all excluded from slots
- The Gaming Curaçao badge has no license number and no verification link
- No native iOS app reachable from Malaysia, only the home screen shortcut
- Fishing, fast games, and lottery sections have weak filtering, so finding a specific game means tapping through providers
- An app on your home screen makes depositing faster than it probably should be
How to Remove The AW8 App
Removing the AW8 app is the same as removing any other Android app, and because it holds no permissions and uses 289 kB of storage, nothing is left behind to clean up afterward. On iPhone, where it is a home screen shortcut rather than an install, deleting the icon is all there is to do.
The uninstall confirmation. With no permissions and 289 kB of data, nothing remains on the phone afterward.
- Press and hold the AW8 icon on your home screen or in your app drawer
- Tap App info, or drag the icon to the Uninstall option at the top of the screen
- Tap Uninstall
- Confirm by tapping Uninstall again in the dialog
- On iPhone, press and hold the icon instead, tap Remove Bookmark or Delete, then confirm
One thing removing the app does not do: it does not close your AW8 account, cancel a pending bonus, or stop promotional emails. If you are stepping away from gambling rather than just clearing space, use the account closure and self-exclusion options rather than deleting an icon.
The Verdict: Is The AW8 App Download Worthy?
Yes, if you set your expectations correctly. The AW8 app is not a native build and does not pretend to be one for long once you look at the storage page. Instead, it's the cleanest, lightest, and lowest-risk way we've found in Malaysia to put a betting site on your home screen. It installs through Google Play in seconds with no security warning, takes 289 kB, requests nothing, and updates itself. Set against APK files that trigger Chrome warnings, request 26 permissions, and take 161 MB, that trade looks good for most people.
Where it falls short is features, not safety. There is no fingerprint login, no push notification when your withdrawal lands, and no offline caching. The gap against the website itself is smaller than at any other operator here, which cuts both ways: you gain less by installing, but you also lose less. The clearest reasons to install are the app-exclusive bonus and the phishing protection, and the first of those is worth RM 5 to a new member rather than the RM 188 on the banner.
Install it if you play at AW8 regularly, your phone is short on space, or you would rather not give a gambling app access to your camera and microphone. Skip it if you want biometric login and push alerts in a full native app, since that is not an option.
